Attitude Toward Life: A Faith-Inspired Residential Space by Tsu Chao Lin

Tsu Chao Lin, a renowned designer, has crafted a unique residential space that is both a testament to the tenants' religious faith and an embodiment of their ideal home. The design, aptly named "Attitude Toward Life", employs partitions between the living room, dining area, and study room to create a spacious and transparent view. The use of simple colors and materials further enhances the sense of openness, transforming the space into a continuously interactive area.

The unique feature of this design is the cabinet, conceptualized as a cross, which restructures and rearranges the living space. This innovative approach, coupled with the use of natural materials such as wood and cement, creates a sense of purity and freedom that reflects the tenants' faith and their desire for an unburdened, ideal home.

The design process involved meticulous planning and execution. The designer had to reroute heat and cold pipelines, consider height and structure restrictions, and even leave the ceiling undecorated to accommodate exposed pipes. Despite these challenges, the end result is a space that draws in a large amount of natural light, creating a room full of lights and shadows.

The "Attitude Toward Life" project started in January 2018 and was completed in September of the same year in Taiwan. It covers approximately 96 square feet and features a sliding door, another testament to the designer's commitment to functionality and harmony. The design was recognized with the Iron A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a prestigious accolade that acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative creations.

Through this design, Tsu Chao Lin has demonstrated how a residential space can reflect the tenants' faith and lifestyle. The "Attitude Toward Life" is more than just a living space; it is a testament to the power of design in creating a harmonious and meaningful environment.
